Swift X - Ray Observations of Classical Novae

The new γ-ray burst (GRB) mission Swift has obtained pointed observations of several classical novae in outburst. We analyzed all the observations of classical novae from the Swift archive up to 30 June, 2006. We analyzed usable observations of 12 classical novae and found 4 non-detections, 3 weak sources and 5 strong sources. This includes detections of 2 novae exhibiting spectra resembling th...

Telescope Observations of Novae in M 49

A search for novae in M49 (NGC 4472) has been undertaken with the Hubble Space Telescope. A 55-day observing campaign in F555W (19 epochs) and F814W (five epochs) has led to the discovery of nine novae. We find that M49 may be under-abundant in slow, faint novae relative to the Milky Way and M31. Instead, the decline rates of the M49 novae are remarkably similar to those of novae in the LMC. Th...

SWIFT observations of TeV BL Lac objects

Context. We present the results of a set of observations of nine TeV detected BL Lac objects performed by the XRT and UVOT detectors on board the S wi f t satellite between March and December 2005. Aims. We are mainly interested in measuring the spectral parameters, and particularly the intrinsic curvature in the X-ray band. Methods. We perform X-ray spectral analysis of observed BL Lac TeV obj...

Very-high-energy γ-ray observations of novae and dwarf novae with the MAGIC telescopes

Context. In the last five years the Fermi Large Area Telescope (LAT) instrument detected GeV γ-ray emission from five novae. The GeV emission can be interpreted in terms of an inverse Compton process of electrons accelerated in a shock. In this case it is expected that protons in the same conditions can be accelerated to much higher energies. Consequently they may produce a second component in ...
